 Commanding

I would like to take this time to welcome you to the Missouri State Guard page.  We are the first line of defense in the fight against all threats both domestic and foreign.  Our motto is "Standing Fast Against All Threats".  This is not a motto that we take lightly as we strive to ever improve our State's military in the defense of her people.

How do we do this?  There are many answers to this question.  What I have always avocated is these five core elements, leadership, organization, preparation, physical fitness and training.  Omitting just one of these five core elements will only invite disaster.  So, obviously these are essential if we as the Defense Force of Missouri are to succeed and survive.

But the above is only the core elements.  Much more is needed from you the citizen and soldier of the Missouri State Guard.  I ask you to stoop down and grab a handfull of dirt.  This my friend is Missouri.  Your home and state.  If you are to keep it, you will need to step forward and voluteer to defend her in the face of all dangers both man-made and natural.  You will need to embrace a deep sense of pride in her.  You will need to make a unbreakable pact to defend her.  You will need to commit and sacrifice much to reach a point where you will be better able to effectively defend her.

To get there won't be easy.  It will take allot of sweat and work to get there.  Your will need to exercise both your mind and body to stand against all odds.  It won't be easy, but, you will get there.  Start a little at a time and work your way up there.  Dare to improve.  Dare to dream.  Dare to succeed and not fail.  Make a pact with yourself and others that failure is not in your creed.  Remember, always remember, why you are doing this.  What is that you may ask?  You are doing this to become a better soldier for God and Confederate Missouri.  You are doing this in the defense of your family, in the defense of your homes, in the defense of your children's future, in the defense of Missouri, in the defense of freedom and independence, and most important of all. . .in the defense of God and Confederacy.

Our Founding Fathers brought us a new Nation conceived in sacrifice and blood.  Our Confederate ancestors sacrificed all in the defense of this new Nation, our founding principles, our Constitution, our State rights, and in the defense of God.  They bled on many a sacred battle field so that we might have a free and independent Christian Confederacy.  Many left their homes, their firesides, their wives, their sweetheats, their sisters, their brothers, their mothers, and their fathers, never to return home.  What more can be asked of them in the defense of God and a young Nation?  Who of us can claim their courage and total commitment to God and Confederacy?  Who of us will stand for their Confederate Cause that they handed down to us?
